Connect your AI
MotionSmith is an MCP server. Add it to your AI app once; after that, any video request can use the engines. You need an active subscription for the tools to work. Create an account first.
Connect in one step
easiestCopy this prompt and paste it into Claude Code (terminal, VS Code or the Claude desktop app's Code tab) or Cursor. Your AI adds MotionSmith by itself; you only sign in once in your browser.

Connect me to MotionSmith (an MCP server for making videos) and get it ready. Do the steps yourself and only ask me where it says so:
1. Add the MCP server "motionsmith" with the URL https://motionsmith.miftahul.com/api/mcp
- Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user motionsmith https://motionsmith.miftahul.com/api/mcp
- Cursor or another IDE agent: add {"motionsmith": {"url": "https://motionsmith.miftahul.com/api/mcp"}} under "mcpServers" in its MCP settings file (Cursor: ~/.cursor/mcp.json), keeping what is already there.
2. Tell me exactly how to sign in: in Claude Code, type /mcp, pick "motionsmith" and choose Authenticate (if "motionsmith" isn't listed yet, restart Claude Code first); in Cursor, open Settings → MCP and click Connect/Login next to "motionsmith". A browser window opens: I sign in to MotionSmith and click Allow. Wait until I say "done".
3. Check it works by calling motionsmith's account_status tool and tell me what it says. If I don't have an active plan yet, send me to https://motionsmith.miftahul.com/pricing.
4. Then follow the one-time computer setup checklist that MotionSmith gives you, and tell me when I can ask for my first video.Using the Claude Desktop chat instead? It can't add servers by itself: use the Claude Desktop steps below. Prefer to do it by hand? Every step is below too.
Claude Code
renders directlyRun this once, then type /mcp inside Claude Code and choose Authenticate to sign in.
Sign in with your account (recommended)
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user motionsmith https://motionsmith.miftahul.com/api/mcp
Or use an API key
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user motionsmith https://motionsmith.miftahul.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer fw_YOUR_API_KEY"
Cursor & other IDE agents
renders directlyAdd to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or your agent's MCP settings). Cursor opens a sign-in window the first time.

- Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config.
- Paste the block below, set your workspace folder and API key, save, and restart Claude.
- Claude asks before each command it runs. Approve the ones you're comfortable with.

Use MotionSmith to make a 15-second 9:16 kinetic typography teaser for my podcast "Late Signals". Dark, grainy, orange accents. Reference: ./refs/style.mp4
The first time, your AI sets up your computer by itself (FFmpeg, a headless browser, Python models, Voicebox, yt-dlp). After that, pick a look from the style library or send it a reference video or link.
Fine-tune in the editor
Move, trim and split clips, set levels, fix captions, drop in your own media, and leave change requests for your AI, all in the browser while the files stay on your computer. Ask your AI to make this video editable in the MotionSmith editor, then open it:
Claude Code, Cursor and others: run inside the project folder
npx -y motionsmith-companion --editor --site https://motionsmith.miftahul.com
Claude Desktop: ask Claude to “open the MotionSmith editor”.
